Birthday Prayer

Lo,
The earth rounds
another lap;
perhaps today (with grayer hair),
I'm a little wiser?
Although the same
snares
still gnaw and scratch.

But worry not my ol' friend,
I have great hope
to walk these
next forty years
in Light and Fear
for righteousness and wisdom,
for the blessing of
Your sweet grace.

All glory to Thee
for what I am
and who I am to become!
