Have I ever left you?

From dust and member I made you:
Every tree pleasant for sight and food
To turn to a serpent's tongue so crude
         Have I ever left you?

My children I delivered from Pharaohs hand
With signs and wonders on my command
But diamond cast hearts mourned for former land
         Have I ever left you?

Shutter! at the thundering trumpet sound:
Moses I sent with commands that bound
Just to sacrifice a feast to a god you found?
         Have I ever, &c.

A king I called; ruddy, and withal a pleasant look
He sought My face with love; sung in a poetic book
Only to slay a man for his wife that he took
         Have I ever left you?

With Isaiah's lips I made foretell:
Of a coming Son whom you shall call ------------
Blinded by My Way, Truth, and Life; stuck in a state of hell
         Have I ever left you?

In the darkness of night
I prayed you'd walk in My Light
Only to trade silver for my blight
         Have I ever left you?

I pulled your heart to meet
Me in Holy reverency
Just to continue on your fleshly spree
         I will never leave you.
